Hurst's History
Hurst first began as a settlement in 1850. Isaac Parker built his log
cabin in what is today Southwestern Hurst. Following the Civil War, more
settlers moved into the Hurst area, and the first churches and schools
were built. In 1870, William L. Hurst moved his family into the area,
and this is the event which is generally considered the founding of Hurst
as a town. In 1903, a railroad was built through the town, and its station
was named Hurst's Station. In 1952, the city of Hurst was officially created.
